A heritage breed that dates to the 1600s, Kurobuta Pork is an internationally famous breed from England (and later Japan) known for its intense marbling and tenderness. Also known as Berkshire Pork, Kurobuta has intense marbling and a deeper, richer flavor than conventional pork, which has long been bred for reduced fat content. Not all Kurobuta pork on the market is bred from 100% Berkshire pigs. This pork comes from pure-bred Berkshire pigs raised on family farms.

Thawing Tips

Grill, broil or pan-fry these chops. Kurobuta pork has so much natural flavor that you can keep seasonings and sauces simple. Allow the meat to rest after cooking to let juices redistribute.
